About Me

My name is Erika Marie Tu’avao (formerly Olsen). My father is of Norwegian descent, my mother is of European descent, and my husband is Tongan.

I have lived in:

Huntington Beach, CA
Fullerton, CA
Sherwood, OR
Oakdale, CA
Laie, HI
Madrid, ES
Provo, UT
Salinas, CA
Ponce, PR

So you could say I’m mostly a Californian.

I studied at Brigham Young University-Hawaii and then graduated from Brigham Young University with a BA in Latin American Studies. I have focused a lot of my studies on gender issues in Lat. America as well as Truth Commissions, and intercultural communication.

I love different cultures, languages, art, food, movies, literature, music, and anything else that brings understanding, beauty, and happiness. I believe in God and Jesus Christ. I believe in mutual acceptance in this world and taking a stand, but not fighting. I believe that all body shapes are beautiful. I do not believe that anyone is perfect. Imperfect beings were not made to judge others imperfections.

I have struggled with my emotional health for half of my life now. I am fighting to change my life every day. I don’t just want to accept my limitations and weaknesses, but go triumph and reach all of my goals.
